I die every day.

Passing between evening and morning,

I lay each night down upon the earth.

With the secret door to dreams shut tight,

I become a prisoner, locked within myself,

losing the way out.

Truth sinks into all the darkness,

and upon the tainted ticking of time,

I bind long strands of despair—

then cast them like trash upon a heap.

Sleep, the quiet death,

erases the day.

Things to discard overflow like floods,

and when shattered thoughts pile high into fury,

the cycle of emptying and refilling begins—

the time of creation.

Death is a daily ritual.

And in the morning,

I am born.

Born again.
