The crimson dusk falls, and winter deepens.

Yet the Imjin River, leaving the scent of the world behind,

rushes on toward a distant utopia.

Unyielding ideologies still turn their backs,

tying down time with forgotten chains.

Worried over such useless loyalties,

I suddenly longed to open the river—

to become nature itself.

That pure, flowing water

gently consoled my small pain,

and carried the world’s roads

beyond the bend of the river.

Bearing the fate of freedom,

the river flows like freedom itself,

circling the forbidden land—

still flowing, even today.
